If you are unsure of how to check the flow settings on your boiler, you can contact a qualified heating engineer to do this for you. Checking the flow settings on your boiler is a simple and effective way to save money on your gas bill and help to reduce your carbon footprint. So why not give it a try today? You may be surprised at the difference it can make.

Water temperature

If the water temp on your boiler is up at 80c, when you have a shower, the water you’ve paid to heat will have to be cooled down again! Industry recommendations suggest that if you have a combi boiler, you can set your flow temperature to 50c for heating and 55c for hot water – it’ll take a little longer to heat up, but the gas and CO2 savings make it worthwhile.

If you have a boiler and a hot water cylinder, you can set the flow temperature and cylinder to a few degrees over 60c. You should keep the dial of your hot water cylinder at 60 degrees or more to stop bacteria like legionella from multiplying. If you have a combi boiler, you don’t need to worry, legionella only breeds in standing water and combis keep it flowing.
